Congress Stages Protest Against Amravati Municipal Corporation Over Cleanliness and Tax Issues

Amravati, Maharashtra – The Congress party staged a strong protest against the Amravati Municipal Corporation today, accusing the administration of failing to address critical issues related to cleanliness and excessive taxation. The protest, led by local Congress leaders, highlighted the growing frustration among residents over the lack of basic amenities and the alleged mismanagement of municipal services.

The agitation comes after multiple meetings between Congress representatives and the Municipal Commissioner failed to yield any concrete results. Despite assurances from the Commissioner to improve cleanliness and fix staffing issues, no significant action has been taken, leaving the city in a state of neglect.

Congress leaders expressed their anger over the deteriorating condition of Amravati, stating that the city is grappling with severe sanitation problems. “The city is drowning in garbage, and the administration is turning a blind eye. The Commissioner had promised to address these issues, but nothing has been done. The people of Amravati are suffering, but this shameless administration and government are busy making money from the garbage,” said a Congress representative during the protest.

The protest also highlighted the issue of excessive taxation. Residents are being charged high taxes without receiving adequate services in return. “The municipal corporation has increased taxes, but the people are not even getting basic facilities like those provided by gram panchayats. This is unacceptable,” added the leader.

The Congress has warned that if their demands are not met, they will intensify their agitation. “The Commissioner has called us for another discussion. If our demands are not accepted, we will launch a larger protest, and the administration will be solely responsible for the consequences,” said a Congress spokesperson.

The protest has drawn attention to the growing discontent among Amravati residents, who are demanding immediate action from the municipal authorities. The Congress has vowed to continue its fight until the issues of cleanliness, staffing, and unfair taxation are resolved.

As the city awaits a response from the administration, the protest serves as a reminder of the urgent need for effective governance and accountability in addressing public grievances.
